About Us
The Sports Field Management Association (SFMA) was conceived in 1982 by leaders in the sports turf field maintenance industry including the late Harry Gill, George Toma, Dr. Bill Daniels and Dick Ericsen. SFMA and CSFMA work together combining the science of growing grass and the art of maintaining sport facilities, to produce aesthetically pleasing and safe playing fields.
Since 1990, the CSFMA has been a local chapter of the SFMA. The local chapter promotes the beliefs and ideas of the national organization at the local level. Through the year, the local CSFMA holds seminars at many locations in the state covering all aspects of turf and grounds maintenance relating to athletic fields. The local chapter also holds golf tournaments, annual meetings and donates to a scholarship fund to promote the green industry.
The CSFMA has over 300 members from all areas of the turf industry, including parks and recreation, college and university, professional and commercial. Our members are located throughout the region in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico.
The organization is run by a 10-member volunteer Board of Directors. All Board of Directors serve two year terms and meet five times through out the fall and spring. The CSFMA also has members which sit on the boards of other sports turf industry organizations.
